This Chipotle nutrition calculator adds up your meal from Chipotle's own published numbers. A chicken bowl with white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce comes to 660 calories, 50 g protein and 1,610 mg sodium. That sodium is 70 percent of the 2,300 mg Daily Value. The data comes from Chipotle's US nutrition facts menu, code OCT-2024-US-CK, and its online calculator, both checked 8 October 2026. The tool shows calories, protein, carbs, fat and sodium for the meal. The method box adds fiber, net carbs and a percent Daily Value for calories, protein, carbs and fat. Chipotle's online builder lists only calories, fat, protein and carbs, so the sodium and fiber figures are the ones you will not find there. The item table below lists saturated fat, cholesterol and sugar for each item.
Pick a format first (burrito, bowl, salad, tacos, quesadilla or chips and sides), then set each item to none, light, regular or extra. Regular is the standard portion from Chipotle's menu, light counts as half of that and is an estimate, and extra or double counts twice. The totals update as you go, and the percent Daily Value lines use the FDA's figures for a 2,000 calorie day.
Quick answer: how many calories are in a Chipotle bowl?
A chicken burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and romaine lettuce comes to 660 calories, 50 g protein and 1,610 mg sodium. The figures are Chipotle's own published nutrition facts. A bowl starts at zero and each item adds its listed amount. A burrito adds the tortilla, and extra portions count double.
Key takeaways
- The numbers come from Chipotle's US nutrition facts menu, code OCT-2024-US-CK, checked 8 October 2026.
- The example bowl's 1,610 mg of sodium is 70 percent of the 2,300 mg Daily Value.
- A burrito tortilla adds 320 calories and 600 mg sodium to the same fillings.
- Light counts as half a regular portion, our estimate, because Chipotle publishes no figure for light.
Chipotle nutrition calculator worked example: a chicken bowl
The example build is a chicken bowl with white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce. The tool adds the six rows from Chipotle's menu:
- Calories: 180 + 210 + 130 + 25 + 110 + 5 = 660, which is 33 percent of a 2,000 calorie day.
- Protein: 32 + 4 + 8 + 0 + 6 + 0 = 50 g, which is 100 percent of the 50 g Daily Value.
- Carbohydrates: 0 + 40 + 22 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 68 g, or 25 percent of the 275 g Daily Value.
- Fiber: 0 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 0 + 1 = 10 g, so net carbs (carbs minus fiber) are 58 g.
- Fat: 7 + 4 + 1.5 + 0 + 8 + 0 = 20.5 g, or 26 percent of the 78 g Daily Value.
- Sodium: 310 + 350 + 210 + 550 + 190 + 0 = 1,610 mg, or 70 percent of the 2,300 mg Daily Value.
The fresh tomato salsa alone carries 550 mg sodium, more than the chicken (310 mg) or the rice (350 mg). Swap it for the tomatillo green chili salsa (260 mg) and the bowl drops to 1,320 mg and 650 calories.
A second example shows how fast a burrito climbs. Take a steak burrito with double steak, white rice, pinto beans, tomatillo red chili salsa and sour cream. The calories are 320 + 300 + 210 + 130 + 30 + 110 = 1,100. Its sodium is 600 + 660 + 350 + 210 + 500 + 30 = 2,350 mg, which is 102 percent of the Daily Value in one meal. Protein is 64 g (8 + 42 + 4 + 8 + 0 + 2).
Three crispy corn tacos with carnitas, cheese and lettuce use the live builder's three shell set at 200 calories. They come to 200 + 210 + 110 + 5 = 525 calories and 32 g protein. Chips and guacamole, regular size, are 540 + 230 = 770 calories, the same figure Chipotle's paper menu prints for that pairing. Large chips with large guacamole are 810 + 460 = 1,270 calories.

| Quesadilla cheese portion | 1 | 330 | 24 | 3 | 18 |
The quesadilla cheese row comes from the live builder, which lists calories, fat, protein and carbs and nothing else. Those four figures are exactly three times the 1 oz cheese row: 3 x 110 = 330 calories, 3 x 8 = 24 g fat, 3 x 6 = 18 g protein and 3 x 1 = 3 g carbs. For the other columns the tool counts the portion as three cheese portions: 15 g saturated fat, 90 mg cholesterol, 570 mg sodium, 0 g fiber and 0 g sugar. Those five figures are our estimate, because Chipotle publishes none of them. So a quesadilla's sodium line in the tool says "estimate", and the method box names the 570 mg and the 0 g of fiber. Trans fat is 0 g for every row except the side of queso blanco, which lists 1 g.
How we calculate this
Formula
Each item's menu value x its quantity (none 0, light 0.5, regular 1, extra 2), added across the meal. We count light as half a regular portion. That half is our estimate, because Chipotle publishes no figure for light.
Calories: 180 + 210 + 130 + 25 + 110 + 5 = 660 kcal, 33% of a 2,000 kcal day.
Protein: 32 + 4 + 8 + 0 + 6 + 0 = 50 g, 100% of the 50 g Daily Value.
Carbs: 0 + 40 + 22 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 68 g, 25% of the 275 g Daily Value.
Fat: 7 + 4 + 1.5 + 0 + 8 + 0 = 20.5 g, 26% of the 78 g Daily Value.
Sodium: 310 + 350 + 210 + 550 + 190 + 0 = 1,610 mg, 70% of the 2,300 mg Daily Value.
Fiber: 0 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 0 + 1 = 10 g, so net carbs (carbs minus fiber) are 58 g.
Your inputs
Format: Burrito bowl, no included item. Items: Chicken, 4 oz, regular; Cilantro-lime white rice, 4 oz, regular; Black beans, 4 oz, regular; Fresh tomato salsa (mild), 4 oz, regular; Cheese, 1 oz, regular; Romaine lettuce, 1 oz, regular. Menu values from Chipotle's US nutrition facts menu, code OCT-2024-US-CK, and its online calculator, checked 8 October 2026.
Sources
- Chipotle Mexican Grill, US Nutrition Facts paper menu (PDF), document code OCT-2024-US-CK, file date 16 October 2024 (read 8 October 2026). It gives the portion, calories, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, fiber, sugar and protein for every item row above except the quesadilla cheese portion. It also notes that "Serving sizes are approximations only" and that "Nutritional content may vary".
- Chipotle Mexican Grill, online nutrition calculator, the burrito, tacos, salad and quesadilla pages (read 8 October 2026). It lists calories, fat, protein and carbs per item, and every item it shares with the paper menu matched. For example, chicken is 180 calories, 7 g fat, 32 g protein and 0 g carbs in both. It supplies the three-taco sets (200 and 250 calories), the romaine salad base (5 calories), the double wrap (320 calories) and the quesadilla cheese portion (330 calories, 24 g fat, 18 g protein, 3 g carbs).
- US Food and Drug Administration, Daily Value on the Nutrition and Supplement Facts Labels (read 8 October 2026). It sets the Daily Values the percent lines use: fat 78 g, saturated fat 20 g, cholesterol 300 mg, sodium 2,300 mg, carbohydrate 275 g, fiber 28 g, added sugars 50 g and protein 50 g. The calorie line uses the 2,000 calorie day that Chipotle's paper menu cites for general nutrition advice.
Limits
Chipotle says its serving sizes are approximations and that nutritional content may vary, so every total is the number for a standard scoop, and yours may differ. Our estimates are light, counted as half a regular portion, and the quesadilla cheese portion's sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol, fiber and sugar, counted as three cheese portions. The 2 g of fiber for three soft taco tortillas is our estimate too, because the paper menu lists under 1 g for each. Where the paper menu and the live builder disagree on a base, such as the taco shells or the salad greens, the tool follows the live builder.

Is the Chipotle nutrition calculator accurate?
The numbers are accurate for the portion Chipotle defines; the portion you get is the uncertain part. Chipotle prints on its menu that serving sizes are approximations based on how items are usually prepared and that nutritional content may vary. Our tool reproduces Chipotle's figures item for item, and on 8 October 2026 every item we compared in the live builder matched the paper menu exactly. So the calculator and the menu agree with each other. What neither can tell you is whether the person on the line gave you 4 oz of rice or 5 oz. The section below puts a number on that.
How much one extra ounce adds
Dividing each menu row by its portion gives the cost of a heavy scoop. White rice is 210 calories per 4 oz, so one extra ounce adds about 52.5 calories and 87.5 mg sodium. Brown rice adds the same 52.5 calories but only 47.5 mg sodium. Black beans add 32.5 calories per ounce. Guacamole adds 57.5 calories and 5.5 g fat per ounce. Cheese comes in a 1 oz portion of 110 calories, 8 g fat and 190 mg sodium, so a doubled pinch doubles all of that. Sour cream adds 55 calories per ounce. Chicken adds 45 calories and 8 g protein per ounce, steak 37.5 calories and about 5 g protein.
| Item | Menu portion | Per extra ounce | Sodium per ounce |
|---|---|---|---|
| White rice | 4 oz, 210 cal | 52.5 cal | 87.5 mg |
| Brown rice | 4 oz, 210 cal | 52.5 cal | 47.5 mg |
| Black beans | 4 oz, 130 cal | 32.5 cal | 52.5 mg |
| Guacamole | 4 oz, 230 cal | 57.5 cal, 5.5 g fat | 92.5 mg |
| Cheese | 1 oz, 110 cal | 110 cal, 8 g fat | 190 mg |
| Sour cream | 2 oz, 110 cal | 55 cal, 4.5 g fat | 15 mg |
| Queso blanco (in a meal) | 2 oz, 120 cal | 60 cal | 125 mg |
| Chicken | 4 oz, 180 cal | 45 cal, 8 g protein | 77.5 mg |
| Steak | 4 oz, 150 cal | 37.5 cal, 5.25 g protein | 82.5 mg |
Per ounce figures are the menu row divided by its portion, so they carry the same approximation Chipotle attaches to the row.
What light and extra mean
Extra or double is a defined order at Chipotle, and the official builder counts it as two portions. The tool does the same, so double chicken is 360 calories and 64 g protein. Light is a request, and Chipotle publishes no number for it. The tool counts light as half a portion and labels it as an estimate, so light white rice shows 105 calories. Treat that as a midpoint, and use the per ounce table above to adjust for the scoop you got.
Why a bowl starts at zero and a quesadilla at 650
Each format includes whatever Chipotle wraps or serves it in. A bowl has no included item, so it starts at zero and you add everything. A burrito starts at 320 calories, 600 mg sodium and 50 g carbs, which is the flour tortilla. A quesadilla starts at 650: the same tortilla plus the 330 calorie cheese portion the live builder adds. Soft tacos start at 250 for three taco tortillas and crispy tacos at 200 for three corn shells. A salad starts at 5 calories for romaine lettuce, and the chipotle-honey vinaigrette is a checkbox under Format at 220 calories and 850 mg sodium. Chips and sides start at zero, like a bowl.
How much sodium is in a Chipotle burrito or bowl?
The plain chicken bowl in the worked example has 1,610 mg sodium, 70 percent of the 2,300 mg Daily Value, at only 660 calories. The double steak burrito has 2,350 mg, which passes the full day's value. The tortilla is 600 mg (26 percent) before anything goes in it. The chipotle-honey vinaigrette is 850 mg (37 percent) and the fresh tomato salsa is 550 mg (24 percent). Sofritas (560 mg) and barbacoa (530 mg) are the saltiest proteins; chicken (310 mg) and steak (330 mg) the least. The crispy corn tortilla and romaine list 0 mg. After those, the lowest rows are supergreens (15 mg), sour cream (30 mg), fajita vegetables (150 mg), the flour taco tortilla (160 mg), brown rice (190 mg) and cheese (190 mg).
Burrito or bowl: what the tortilla adds
The tortilla adds 320 calories, 9 g fat, 50 g carbs, 600 mg sodium and 8 g protein. Everything else in a burrito and a bowl with the same fillings is identical. The live builder also offers a double wrap, which adds another 320 calories. So the same chicken, white rice, black beans, tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce come to 660 calories as a bowl and 980 as a burrito. The sodium moves from 1,610 mg to 2,210 mg.
Five example builds
These builds come straight from the item table, so you can check each one in the tool.
| Build | Items | Calories | Protein | Sodium | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low calorie chicken bowl | Bowl: chicken, fajita vegetables, tomatillo green chili salsa, romaine | 220 | 33 g | 720 mg | 31 percent of sodium DV |
| High protein bowl | Bowl: double chicken, black beans, white rice, cheese | 810 | 82 g | 1,370 mg | 164 percent of protein DV |
| Low net carb bowl | Bowl: steak, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, romaine | 605 | 31 g | 920 mg | 13 g carbs, 8 g fiber, 5 g net carbs |
| No meat, no dairy rows | Bowl: sofritas, brown rice, black beans, fajita vegetables, fresh tomato salsa, guacamole | 765 | 23 g | 2,030 mg | 20 g fiber, 71 percent of fiber DV |
| Low sodium chicken bowl | Bowl: chicken, brown rice, fajita vegetables, sour cream, romaine | 525 | 39 g | 680 mg | 30 percent of sodium DV |
The low net carb build counts net carbs as carbs minus fiber. That is a common convention, and no regulation defines it. The "no meat, no dairy" build describes which rows it uses. Every row in it lists 0 mg cholesterol, and our data has no vegan, vegetarian or allergen field. Chipotle publishes an allergen chart, and that chart is the source to check for diet labels. The protein build hits 164 percent of the 50 g Daily Value in one meal. If you are working to a daily protein target, our protein calculator tells you what that target is.
Chips and sides
Chips and sides are a separate format in the tool with no base. Regular chips are 540 calories and 390 mg sodium; large chips are 810 and 590 mg. Chips and guacamole, regular, are 770 calories, and large chips with large guacamole are 1,270, which is 64 percent of a 2,000 calorie day before any entree. The side of queso blanco is 4 oz, twice the queso portion in a meal. It has 240 calories, 12 g saturated fat (60 percent of the Daily Value) and 490 mg sodium. The paper menu also lists drinks and kids meals, which the tool leaves out for now. The chips and sides page of the live builder did not render in our check, so these rows come from the paper menu.
Paper menu versus live builder
The two official sources agree on every shared item, and differ in how they present a few bases. The paper menu lists one crispy corn tortilla at 70 calories and one soft taco tortilla at 80, which add to 210 and 240 for three. The live builder lists the three shell sets at 200 and 250. The paper menu's salad base is the supergreens mix at 15 calories; the live builder's is romaine at 5. The live builder adds a double wrap (+320) and a quesadilla cheese portion (330) that the paper menu does not itemize. It drops sodium, fiber, sugar, cholesterol and saturated fat. The tool follows the live builder for bases and the paper menu for the full column set.
How current is the data
The paper menu carries document code OCT-2024-US-CK with a file date of 16 October 2024. We checked the live builder against it on 8 October 2026, and every shared item matched. A quarterly check repeats that comparison and updates the date shown on this page. Any item the paper menu does not list stays out of the tool until Chipotle publishes its nutrition row.
Logging your order in MyFitnessPal or Cronometer
The simplest route is to enter the totals once. Build the meal here, then create one custom food in your tracker with the calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber and sodium the tool shows. If you want the meal to carry over to future orders with changes, enter the items as separate foods. Use the per portion rows in the table above, with the quantity set to 0.5, 1 or 2 to match what you ordered. The official builder does not show sodium, so copy that line from this tool or from the paper menu.
Is Chipotle healthy?
It depends on the build, and the numbers above let you see how much. A chicken order ranges from 220 calories and 720 mg sodium in the low calorie bowl above to 980 calories and 2,210 mg sodium in the burrito example. Protein is easy to reach: one chicken portion is 32 g, 64 percent of the 50 g Daily Value. Fiber is easy with beans: one portion of black beans is 7 g, a quarter of the 28 g Daily Value. Sodium is the figure that passes its full Daily Value in a single meal in the double steak burrito example. What any of this means for you depends on your daily needs, and our TDEE calculator gives you the calorie figure to measure a meal against. This is general information, not medical advice.
For the items with the most protein per calorie, and Chipotle's own High Protein Menu bowls checked against this data, see our guide to a high protein Chipotle order.
Frequently asked questions
Is chicken really 180 calories and 32 g protein?
Yes, per 4 oz portion, on both the paper menu and the live builder. The figure is for Chipotle's prepared portion, so it will not match a generic per 100 g chicken value from another source.
Which Chipotle items are keto, vegan or gluten free?
The tool does not label diets or allergens, because our data has no allergen field yet. It shows carbs, fiber and net carbs for any build, and the item table above shows which rows list 0 mg cholesterol. For allergen and diet labels, use Chipotle's own allergen chart. We plan to add allergen flags once we have read and dated that chart.
Where is the official calculator?
Chipotle's own builder is at chipotle.com/nutrition-calculator, with pages for each format. It shows calories, fat, protein and carbs per item. The paper menu PDF linked in the method section carries the full column set, including sodium.
Does Chipotle weigh portions?
Chipotle's menu says serving sizes are approximations based on how items are usually prepared. We have no published figure for how much a scoop varies, so we do not state one. The per ounce table above shows what each ounce of difference is worth.
Are third party calculators more accurate than Chipotle's?
No calculator can be more accurate than the numbers Chipotle publishes, because that is the only source. A calculator can add things the official builder omits, such as sodium, percent Daily Value, a light estimate and a data date, which is what this one does. Check that any calculator names its menu code or data date, so you know which menu revision it uses.
Conclusion
Build your order row by row, and the calculator totals it from Chipotle's own published numbers. To cook a bowl like it at home, see the TheSawad cookbooks.
